Motomodif: A symbol that a decade of fans turn motorcycle sport, the one thousand new K9 infuses security to every curve and pushes even at low revs. Let's see how it goes on the road

Suzuki GSX-R 1000 - Long Test Ride. Since its debut, which took place ten years ago, the GSX-R1000 has conquered a position of absolute superiority, crowding the starting grid of the most prestigious competitions. Year after year, has won trophies and championships, thanks to the continuous changes to both the engine and the chassis, which have allowed to remain the benchmark for sports motorcycle technology.

The new engine from 999 cm3 of the GSX-R1000 has been designed to maximize the efficiency of combustion and use every single drop of fuel. The result is a greater availability of power and torque at all engine speeds, with a reply of gas more quickly and reduced emissions. The configuration engine is the classic for GSX-R1000. Four-cylinder in-line front running, configuration DOHC (double overhead camshaft with chain distribution, focus on glass and four titanium valves per cylinder, low-angle). Furthermore, the engine is shorter in length, thus allowing a reduction of the same and to use a longer swingarm, thus improving the agility of the bike circuit.
With the engine in 2009 has also received a further streamlining of the chassis and superstructure, thus reducing the frontal area to the benefit of aerodynamic performance.

Cycling totally new
The GSX-R1000 of 2009 confirms the key elements of the chassis, with double beam comprising a precise fusion of five sections of aluminum alloy in the groove section of the steering head, the two main sections of the beam / plate of the pin of swingarm and the two crossbars above and below the swingarm. The swingarm in aluminum alloy is made with only three mergers, and its arched shape leaves enough space to double mufflers on both sides.
The chassis is completely new, with a smaller distance between the steering plate and the pivot of the swingarm, and the drawing of the main beams completely revised, so that they fully adhere to the outline of the new engine. This made it possible to have a longer swingarm despite the wheelbase has been shortened to 10 mm (total 1405 mm) and is currently the shortest in the class. The swingarm is longer than 33 mm, for a total of 577 mm from the center of the pin at the center of the rear axle in the standard position.
The shorter wheelbase enhances cornering agility while longer swingarm improves traction when accelerating out of curves, opposing greater resistance to compression of the rear suspension.
